Sony Digital Cameras

It has long been established that Sony introduced the first digital cameras into the market. This is precisely why it does not come as a surprise that Sony digital cameras are considered leaders in the digital frontier. Let us discuss the history of the company that brought us the many Sony digital cameras that we have come to love.

It was actually in 1946 that the Sony company started out. Interestingly, its first product developed was not something related to cameras. It was actually a rice cooker! The Japanese partners, Akio Morita and Masaru Ibuka, started out by manufacturing rice cookers. This was the first product ever sold by the duo. By the end of World War II in 1950, the duo then developed its first tape recorder. The prototype was called G-TYPE recorder. In 1957, the duo developed another product, the pocket transistor radio. This was the first ever pocket transistor radio that the world had seen at the time. And it was this time when the company started gaining a strong market, and became one of the recognized leaders in innovation and technology.

But Sony was not known as such ever since. The company used to be known as Tokyo Tsushin Kogyo. But Akio Morita soon entertained the thought of entering the American market. And he figured that it would be better for the company to go by a name that’s easier to pronounce. Thus, the pair began to think of a new name, and soon came up with Sony. This was actually a combination of the Latin words sonus, which means sound, and sonny, which means little son.

It was quite difficult for any Japanese company to make it big in the US market at that time. And Sony was actually the first ever Japanese company that achieved this. In 1968, Sony released their Trinitron colored television, which easily became the standard for television technology and design. The Trinitron television became the forerunner for Sony’s success in America. After that came the Walkman and the CD.

Then came 1989, which brought on the launching of the Sony digital cameras. The first ever Sony digital camera released was the Sony ProMavica MVC-5000. The Sony Mavica digital camera was actually a 7.2 megapixel camera that captured the attention of a lot of people worldwide. The Mavica series could even record image files and such onto CDs and even onto floppy disks! Many positive Sony digital camera reviews came after that. And this led to more success for Sony in the digital camera industry.

Have you heard of ImageStation.com? Sony has added a lot of features to this service, which makes digital pictures and videos easier to create. And ImageStation.com goes way beyond creating pictures! This is because the pictures can be shared with anyone you want! Sony also offers you an interface on which you can store online albums and eCards for keepsakes, gifts, and such! Plus, all of these come in different sizes!

And we haven’t even tackled the subject of Sony digital cameras yet! The latest in digital cameras Sony released in the market is the Cybershot Enthusiast series. This particular Sony Cybershot digital camera series come with optics of the advanced level, as well as advanced controls. The Cybershot Point-and-Shoot series also make great digital cameras that are ideally used for snapshot photography. The Cybershot M series has features that support the capturing of high-quality videos!

Another advantage to these digital cameras is the fact that they make use of lithium batteries. With Sony digital camera batteries, you won’t have to worry about running out of power supply when taking pictures of just about anything!
