It may not be new to you anymore when you see television shows that air incidents of people caught on hidden camera. Hidden camera footages have become so popular that they have become so much a norm on television these days. But even with the public’s growing interest in hidden camera footages, these are not always entertaining. In fact, some cases can be very serious a matter.

Many hidden camera videos have become a fast seller and increased ratings of TV shows such as Americas Funniest Home Videos, The Man Show and others. Moreover, hidden cameras have proved helpful especially for security and surveillance applications. Many homeowners use hidden cameras in tracking what housemaids or baby sitters are actually doing inside homes to make sure that nothing gets stolen or that pets or kids are not abused. Many businesses also greatly benefit from hidden cameras to keep track of their employees’ performance as well as prevent robbery and trespassing. Moreover, most safes and vaults in banking and other financial institutions are being monitored by hidden cameras as well as in malls, airports and other establishments where security may be a main priority.

Hidden video cameras seem to be everywhere where there is no law prohibition. Whatever reason there is for using hidden cameras, some people may still find something creepy about it, the fact that they could also be caught on camera without them knowing in their most private moments.

A hidden camera’s abilities may seem to outpace the law. There are those who use hidden cameras for illegal purposes and to invade the privacy of others. Add that up to the Internet, which may seem to amplify the conundrum that hidden cameras may bring. Whether these reasons may be valid or not, many people turn to hidden cameras and find that these are but useful.

And with a hidden camera’s many uses, there are those who abuse them to the point of using them inappropriately. There have been many instances where hidden cameras are placed in areas where privacy is normally expected. This can be very distressing to the subject on the hidden camera footage since it is already an intrusion to their privacy. It is important to remember that while anyone can use hidden cameras, it should be used appropriately and with a great sense of responsibility.
