CDs
With the innovations in technology, there have been a lot of improvements not only in large scale but also in little details. This can be characterized through CD’s. Who would ever think that a thin object in a circular form can accommodate several files inside? At this juncture, the item has been popularly employed in various aspects especially in storing shots from a digital camera. One of the most acknowledged manufacturers in the world of photography, Kodak, has released Photo CD and Picture CD. The two products are aimed to preserve images of high quality. Photo CD was released first in the market in 1992 where seven years later, Picture CD followed which was still designed to cater to average consumers.
Photo CD store shots employing the Kodak’s file format however, it will be based on the version which differs in the resolution levels. On the other hand, Picture CD utilizes a common file format, JPEG, with a single resolution. When you speak of capacity, the first release of the CD’s from Kodak, can accommodate about one hundred shots. What is interesting with the item is that more photos can still be added later on. As for the second version of the product, the pictures coming from one roll of film are written only during the original processing. This means to say that extra images can no longer be accepted.
Also, the shots stored in the Photo CD can only be viewed employing a software from Kodak while Picture CD contains different applications that are compatible with Macintosh and Windows. The second release of the CD’s from the manufacturer has also been integrated with features that will allow you to arrange, display and improve photos as compared to the first item. Even with the differences of the two, they still arrive at a common ground considering that they are generated from a single company. Photo CD and Picture CD are written in formats of Mode II and Form I which follows that they can be suited most of the drive D’s of computers.
Other than the drive D’s of computers, Photo CD and Picture CD from Kodak can also be compatible with a MultiRead- compliant recorder. To backtrack a bit, shots stored in Photo CD can be viewed on television sets but will only function if connected to a compact disc interactive player. Sad news though because the equipment is no longer available in the market. Picture CD on the other hand can be suited to a DVD- video player which can be easily purchased at this juncture in a lot of appliance store. If ever you select the said instrument, remember that not all JPEG photos to a standard ISO 9660 can be read.
Since there is a threat that not all shots stored in Photo CD and Picture CD can be viewed because of the specifications required, Kodak is happy to announce the multi- photo and video player from OSTA will solve the problem. Not is there a solution, it has bee envisioned that more consumers will appreciate the beauty of going digital. Even with the innovations in technology, there are still a lot of areas to be looked into but it also helps in seeking for more room to improve. With the improvements in the future, there is also a possibility that the two CD’s from the manufacturer together with a software can create Video CD 2.0.
Video CD 2.0 is still formatted but does not solely contain shots that are still but have already been edited to appear animated. Meaning to say, there is a slideshow of photos that can be compatible in MultiRead- compliant recorder and compact disc interactive player. With these, you will appreciate all the more Kodak Photo CD and Kodak Picture CD.
